How the World Pride & Power Was Founded
Ifalade Ta'Shia Asanti founded the World Pride & Power Organization in 2004 after serving as Chair of the At The Beach Empowerment Summit which remains one of the largest gatherings of Black SGLBT people in the country. Ifalade Ta'Shia Asanti's distinguished 20-year history as an activist, organizer, cultural, wellness and spiritual teacher led her to weave the vision for a grassroots organization that speaks to SGLBT communities of color and their allies from a perspective grounded in unity, empowerment and inclusivity.
In 2007, Ifalade Ta'Shia invited longtime friend and colleague Tim Daniels to join her at the helm during the initiation planning of the org's inaugural conference. The demands of Tim's life work in the field of HIV/AIDS and filmmaking made it impossible for him to remain active on the board but he remains an avid supporter and partner in World Pride More about Tim's amazing work can be found at www.standingntruth.org
